My contribution

  • Conducting full-scale segment tests to investigate flexural and shear behavior.
  • Developing deflection prediction procedures for curvilinear GFRP-RC members.
  • Developing strength interaction diagrams and examining the effect of curvature on flexural and shear resistance.
  • Developing new theories to account for the effect of curvilinearity on the flexural and shear strength of tunnel lining segments.
  • Characterizing non-pultruded curvilinear GFRP bars, including mechanical behavior and alkaline durability.

Findings and relevance

The research provides experimentally informed methods for assessing segment strength and serviceability. It links reinforcement characterization to structural performance and design calculations.

Continuing questions

Related interests include durable underground infrastructure, precast systems, and design methods for curved concrete members.
